Gymnastics Australia, on behalf Gymnastics Victoria, would like to congratulate the Waverley Gymnastics Centre as the first Club to successfully achieve Star 5 under the recently consolidated Club 10 Quality Assurance Program.

This endorsement of Best Practice at Star 5 recognises the long-term planning and strong commitment to a strategic direction and goals. The Club was nominated by GV Club Services Manager, Kristian Brudenell, for their ability to establish and sustain a High Performance Program within a traditional Club environment. The assessment conducted by GA Club Services Manager, Geoff Rietschel, in conjunction with GV CEO Jane Farrance and Jo Richards, National Junior Development Coordinator, occurred over a two hour interview and inspection of Club information.

Three key areas stood out in this assessment:

• Thoroughness in planning; particularly for the long term and adherence to identified aims;
• Commitment to recognise and value all Members; &
• Preparedness to learn, including by taking advice, and to share learnings with the community.

Club President, Bill Dennis and Club Director, Tanya Johansen are to be commended for their efforts and to those Club personnel, volunteers and supporters working closely with this Committee and those who have been involved in the early days are to be congratulated.
