PIT Gymnastics wows Moomba audience!

Tuesday, 9 March 2010

PIT Gymnastics display team wowed audiences during the Moomba parade yesterday...

PIT Gymnastics has been involved with the Moomba Parade for over 10 years and "it is the highlight in our display gymnastics calendar" says Display Coach Coordinator – Wendy Treble. The Moomba organisers are so impressed with the gymnasts' performances that they have included PIT as one of the main opening acts for the Pre-Parade action for the past three years.

The squad performed a routine created especially for this year's theme - Moomba Mambo and impressed all the VIPs with its energy, flair and high action stunts not only during the opening but during the Parade itself.

The Display group incorporates the Gym for All motto and is open to all members of the club. The current group is a mixture of competitive WG gymnasts, junior acrobatics all the way to National Acrobatic Champions.

Veritas
NICA National Circus Centre, Prahran
23-31 March 2010

Spectacular high-energy circus combines with stunning video projection to portray the interior landscape of archetypal characters each seeking the truth.

Their bodies are suspended, falling fearlessly, risking all. We join them on their journey of exploration and discovery through a kaleidoscope of aerial adventure.

The cast of eighteen 3rd Year Bachelor of Circus Arts students explore our longing to be loved, our dreams and fears with poignancy and humour and through the physical and poetic language that is unique to the artform of circus. Veritas is a vivid, inspiring celebration of life that charts the known and unknown, challenging assumptions of where journeys begin and end.

Veritas is devised and directed by Holly Rollins who has returned to Melbourne from her home town of Boston USA, to work with NICA students, trainers and creative team to create this sophisticated new show. Holly synthesizes her experience as an aerialist on Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam and La Nouba with her Masters in Education research in Adult Development, from the prestigious Harvard University, to create a rich and lyrical performance that stays with you long after the curtain call.
